This sage green kitchen did not tone itself down for anyone, and neither did she.
This 5 room resale HDB belongs to a homeowner who is warm, outgoing, and loves colour as much as she loves company. With their son moving out, this kitchen makeover marks the start of a new chapter for the couple, built around how the two of them spend their days together. We pulled the palette straight from an original mosaic tile in the home and kept the existing pink floors, building a modern country kitchen in sage green around details that were already there instead of erasing them. It is a variation from our usual aesthetic, and one that came together because she wanted a space with personality, not restraint. At the heart of it sits an extendable dining nook, their everyday spot for casual meals and morning coffee. Every choice in this kitchen was made with thought for how they will live here for years to come, in a home that feels entirely their own.
That long term thinking shows up in the hardware. A narrow pull-out condiment rack keeps everyday seasonings within reach without eating counter space, while a pull-down pantry rack brings higher storage down to a comfortable level instead of leaving it out of reach. Small choices, but the kind that change how a kitchen actually gets used every day.
The rest of the home was planned around how active this couple really is. A pull-down dish rack keeps everyday crockery accessible right where they cook, and a rotating shoe rack makes the most of a tight footprint at the entryway. A dedicated golf cabinet was built in for the husband's gear, proof that good storage design means designing around the people, not just the space.
